MY STORY
Since childhood, dance has been a huge part of my life. It was during my teenage years while exploring the free folk dance that I realized is dance is more than an hobby but a language of my expression. After being the mega-winner of 5 years straight of the Indian Folk dance competition in Gujrat, India, I knew that dance was my passion and a way of life moving forward. I mastered my skills in advance dance forms and techniques which made me well equipped to convert my passion of dancing into a career. Trained by legends like Terence Lewis and Saroj Khan set me apart from all my competition. It is my continuous zeal and having mastered the art of dance that helped me nurture that passion in my students for over a decade in India.
Since my move to UK I have realized a growing need and interest for Indian culture and dance forms. With Musicals like Bombay Dreams and movies like Slumdog Millionaire have spiked an interest in our music, art and dance forms. It is this growing need that helped me continue my passion of teaching dance in a totally new continent. Brent Indian Association welcomes me with open arms and gave me the opportunity to influence and cultivate the same passion for dance in my students.
As a learned artist who understands the art and technique in depth, it has helped me excel as a teacher and has given me several great opportunities. Along with teaching, my team and I have also had the pleasure to perform at prestigious events like RISE: Brent London Borough of Culture 2020 and Asia’s largest fair London MELA.
Having conceptualized, organized and choreographed over 600 shows, I have myself performed in over 100 shows with large audiences. The breadth of performances range from theater drama and musical shows to Wedding Dance Ceremonies, Annual School Performances, and Corporate Shows.
My love for the art of dance continues to grow and I hope to inspire and cultivate the passion of others through my Academy.
